14/09/09 19:48
Art League’s Cele-bra-tion show opens Oct. 2
The Art League of For Myers will observe National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with its fourth annual “Cele-bra-tion” show which formally opens during the Fort Myers downtown Art Walk on Friday, Oct. 2.
The show will include two-dimensional work such as oils, acrylics, watercolors, collages, pastels, fiber works and photography. Original prints including etchings, lithographs and wood blocks also are eligible.
During the reception, from 6:00 – 7:30 pm, three cash prizes will be awarded. The Art League will remain open until 10 pm.
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month educates women about the importance of early detection. More and more women are getting mammograms to detect breast cancer in its earliest stages. According to program sponsors, breast cancer deaths are on the decline.
Most of the art work will be offered for sale. In addition, the Art League’s gift shop offers many moderately priced items including jewelry, photographs and fine art prints, and note and greeting cards.
The Art League is located in downtown Fort Myers at 1451 Monroe St. It is open 11 am – 3 pm weekdays as well as during special events such as Art Walk. The Cele-bra-tion show will run through Oct. 30.
Artists do not have to belong to the Art League to enter; each may bring up to three works to the Art League on Saturday, Sept. 26, 1 – 3 pm. A copy of the show’s prospectus is available from the Art League, 239-275-3970.

UUCFM and Syracuse

Thanks to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort
Myers for the opportunity to exhibit my photographs
in this beautiful facility.
Unfortunately I won't make the Wescott community art trail in Syracuse on June 2 and 3. Some of my work will be on display at 222 Buckingham Avenue, however. I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones at the Wescott Community Center beginning June 29. Please come to the reception if you can.
